This is one man's opinion, but I believe that live chat rooms often attract trolls, which would distract from the help-oriented nature of the site. I'm mildly against this idea based on bad experiences with other live chat rooms.

Chat moves to chatroom => less fresh site content => less Google hits => accelerated decline of AWF

I wonder what the reasons are for chat rooms having fallen into more or less oblivion?
Is it just due to Apps generally?

The chat rooms have moved to things like Discord. Those are massively busy. They all have their place. The chat rooms like Discord are quite chaotic.
