Can anyone help?

5 wks ago, my laptop suffered meltdown. I had a trojan that made a real mess of the system with one result being that both explorer.exe and IE6 fail to run. All that happens is that both the icons and toolbar disappear. After a few seconds they come back but no explorer. I'm also getting a runtime error affecting Visual C++. The file causing the probs is cidaemon.exe.

Lastly, I can no longer use my modem. I can install it in Safe Made but when I open in Normal mode, Windows tries to install it before crashing.

I don't know what is going on and I'm tearing my hair out. Please help before I go bald!

I think if it were me I would try System Restore first C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe

If that did not help I would try reinstalling Windows.

yeah when ever i get virii, i just backup my files and reformat, no questions asked. But you should always be vigilant, so virii cant effect the computer in the first place.
