View Full Version : World Cup Germany 2006
carlnewboult 05-11-2006, 04:54 AM Hiya all,
Hope you are all fine I was just wondering if anyone knows of a website which is going to be showing the world cup so I can watch it whilst at work as cannot get to a TV?
Please Please Please Please Please Please help
Thanks
Minkey 05-11-2006, 06:27 AM I sure someone somewhere probably will but I guarantee you it will either be illegal or certainly in the 'grey' area (usually a foreign TV station which has paid for rights and then streams them on their web site).
There are some sites that you can subscribe to that claim to be 100% legal but again they are regarded as in the 'grey' area.
As far as coverage for the World Cup is concerned the rights for it will be heavily restricted (more so that say the Premiership) so I would suspect that any site streaming the World Cup would certainly be in the darker end of the 'grey' area (maybe even in the 'black' area :p )

I don't know a lick about soccer but I do love to watch it. Those well tones male bodies running up and down the field; sweat glistening on their forehead from the sheer exertion they are putting forth. Marveling at the precision they handle the ball with those strong masculine legs.:D
Yup, tis fun to watch! ;)

1. He bet me Rooney won't kick a ball in the world cup
2. He bet Sweden will get further than England.
I have my faith in Rooney and news today says he will play in the Sweden game, im confident that il be flush when the world cup ends!

If you define a man as "a human being who enjoys playing sports where a great deal of pain is involved", then yes I agree. :D

We now have a full generation of soccer players in this country.
We now have a full generation of soccer players in this country.
When are they going to perform on the World stage, that means the World and not just the US? :p
Minkey 05-12-2006, 12:17 PM Yeah, but sooner than that Americans are coming to wup some pansy European butt.
Wouldn't you simply create a new World Cup called The World Series of Football (sorry soccer  ) and only allow entry to MLS teams, change the format so it's the best of 7 games, the players have to stop play when a team gets into the opposition half to allow 5 midfielder and 5 strikers to come on (the other team can bring on 8 defenders and 3 goalkeepers), any shot any where near the goal counts as 3 points a shot within 5 yards of the goal counts as 5 and an actual goal as 7 (a bonus 3 points if the shot originated outside the penalty area) just to keep the points scored at at least 100 each.
:p :D
Only jesting - I actually think the USA could do allright and maybe get to the knockout phase if they could get a result against the Czech Rep. You have some good players - Keller, Bocanegra, Donovan, Reyna, McBride - and you do have someone regarded as one of the best young talents in the World - Freddie Adu (shame he's not going this time).

Sorry, I really don't have a clue. Joan (girlfriend) coaches little girls and I am just now getting into it.
I just thought that "the Americans are coming sounded good".

statsman 05-28-2006, 03:22 PM In the first World Cup, played in Uruguay in 1934:
India went home. FIFA wouldn't let them play without boots. The Indians never used them.
The USA made it out of their group, but lost in the quarter-final.
Most of the world football/soccer powers stayed home. They didn't think much of the idea of a world championship. MORE FOOLS THEY.
Minkey 06-01-2006, 04:50 AM The BBC have updated their schedule and will stream the games being shown on the BBC (some of the games are being aired by ITV) via the web - for UK residents only of course
So good news for anyone stuck in the office ;) - more details here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/bbc_coverage/5037426.stm)

My boss can kiss goodbye to me doing anything productive when a game is on the bbc now ha ha ha ha
My personal opinion is the americans will just miss out from getting the knock out stages along with germany or Brazil

In 1934, the World Cup was played in Italy. Uruguay, who had hosted (and won) the inaugural competition in 1930 did not travel as it was too far away. The USA reached the semi-finals in 1930; I think they were beaten 5-1, or something, by Argentina.
