I wonder what a cop scooter is doing in a chop shop...:p
Bodisathva 06-20-2006, 03:53 AM I see Jeb's just a stupid as his brother
I know I'm going to regret this, but...
I'm not a fan of any of the Bush clan, but what exactly do you find stupid about the repeal of the helmet law?

Isn't it obvious, or do I have to spell it out?
KenHigg 06-20-2006, 04:47 AM What business is it of yours if people in Fla. wear a helmet?
What business is it of yours if people in Fla. wear a helmet?
What business is it of yours who the leader is in Iran, Iraq, The Palestine, N.Korea, China, The Soviet Union, Vietnam, Panama, Cuba, Hawaii, The Philippines, Puerto Rico, Chile, Honduras, Guatemala, Afghanistan ,Nicaragua, The Honduras, etc., etc. ?

BarryMK 06-21-2006, 01:20 AM It does make one wonder. "Land of the free" - liberal gun laws = free to kill other people, animals, schoolmates, anything that moves - no helmet required = free to kill yourself. I guess there's a certain insane consistency there.

That's the "land of the free" where the government introduces draconian measures against its own people and hides it behind the "terrorism" threat.
More Americans have lost their lives since Jeb repealed the helmet law than have been killed by "terrorists". Still as long as they continue to believe they're free.
Watch Rumpty Dumpty come on and tell the Americans that their measures are "protecting Americans"

If American bikers have to wear a helmet - how can they propogate the "easy rider" image?
Wait till they vote Jeb in as Prez after GWB

Yeah, oddly a world wide poll now sees the Bush family as the biggest threat to world peace
ColinEssex 06-21-2006, 02:50 AM Yeah, oddly a world wide poll now sees the Bush family as the biggest threat to world peace
Do you think the Americans would be daft enough to vote in another Bush as Prez to continue the American dream of world destruction?

I quess the truth sometimes hurts...
BarryMK 06-21-2006, 05:38 AM  So Ken and any other Americans still braving this thread - how do you rate the chances of another Bush (Jeb) getting his arse into the oval office?
KenHigg 06-21-2006, 05:48 AM I would say that depends on what the dem's dish up... I honestly think we've seen the last of the Bush clan...
I quess the truth sometimes hurts...
It hurts less if you're wearing a helmet
KenHigg 06-21-2006, 05:53 AM It hurts less if you're wearing a helmet
I wonder how we can require people to wear a seat belt and then not require a helmet? I'm guessing the insurance co's aren't pushing the issue yet

Actually what you need is a government that cares about it's people and not the financial cost to insurance companies, still that's capitalism for you:rolleyes:
KenHigg 06-21-2006, 06:05 AM Actually what you need is a government that cares about it's people and not the financial cost to insurance companies, still that's capitalism for you:rolleyes:
People don't belong to a government
Maybe we need people that care about it's government ;)

The government belong to the people and thus is supposed to look after them, though of course you don't have a government do you, unless you're going into another war that is:rolleyes:

This is an interesting proposition and may be one of the fundamental differences in European (or at least Rich's) and American (or at least my) views. See, I don't think the government is supposed to look after me, nor do I want it to. Interesting concept that something I (co-)own is supposed to look after me...
In the states, where I live at least, one of the minimum requirements to be met before a city can be incorporated into a legal identity, is that it must propose at least three basic services it can provide it's citizens to be. Say police dept, garbage collection and maybe water services.
I think this is how it should work all the way up through the levels of government - What can be done collectively that we may not be able to do alone. We collectively pay a police dept to keep the traffic in check, pick up the garbage and supply the area with water. If an area falters, we need to fix it. Hence, I look after it, not it look after me...
yada, yada, yada...
Who looks after you when you're ill?

The people he has paid to do it, either through medical insurance or taxes.

That's an interesting set of exclusive options... There are people that pay doctors, etc out-of-pocket...:)

I did that once too for urgent eye surgery, b****y NHS couldn't help, but didn't think it the norm. Sorry didn't mean to close any other avenues but feel that as those who fund our medical treatment are taking care of ourselves, which i thought was what we , sorry you, were argueing.

I'm with you all the way - I think what you said is the norm here as well. Except maybe it's insurance and medicare (When you qualify) :) Kind of rare that one actually pays the entire tab out of pocket...

So it's ok for the government to introduce legislation to protect the wealth of insurance companies but not to protect the people?

KenHigg 06-21-2006, 02:09 PM Sorry, I'm not sure what 'double dutch' means :)

BarryMK 06-22-2006, 05:25 AM when four agree to pay half
