Everytime I try to type on my laptop I keep getting some strange behaviour. I type and the letters I press appear as numbers or the wrong letters. This is driving me mad does anyone have any ideas or solutions to this issue.

Turn off your num lock :p
Depends on the laptop but usually shift and the numlock/scrn prnt key - the indicator light is the one with the number in a padlock should go out (middle one in this pic - clicky (http://www.benchmark.co.yu/tests/notebook/fujitsu_siemens/amilo_8830_D/amilo_dugmici.jpg))
