Pauldohert 07-24-2006, 03:30 AM Tap dancing is a talent - I am not saying this girl had any.

Oh Ok, you switched it off after the winner was known
Looks to me that there is a large percentage of spanish blood in Barbie 3

The_Doc_Man 07-24-2006, 10:04 AM I was watching a show the other night, it was called "America's Got Talent" or some such thing as that. This guy's act was he had dozens of bicycle horns taped to his body. He hit the horns in a specific order to play melodies. I am not going to say just how annoying he was, but I will say that a talented female tap dancer would have been preferable. If the woman had ANY TALENT AT ALL it would have been preferable.
I eventually did change channels, though there is this streak in me that makes me susceptible to "morbid fascination." At least a couple of odd acts were better than the horn man. But one leaves me perplexed - a guy whose stage name is "Bobby Badfingers." He's a snapper. He snaps his fingers very fast, comparable to castanets. That's his talent. Again, morbid fascination.
The jazz/acrobat couple, on the other hand, really DID have a nice act. So I can recognize talent when I see it sometimes, anyway.
So... what were the other talents on the show? Singing and a musical instrument are commonplace. Now and then you catch a juggler. And of course, let's not forget "Miss Congeniality" - where talents included baton twirling and musical glass-playing.
[QUOTE=KenHigg]fyi - I think this girl won it (Not sure if she was the tap-dancer  ):
Let me guess, she wants to support childrens charities through the UN:rolleyes:

She doesn't look quite human to me.
More like a Stepford Wife....
Are you sure she's real?
Pauldohert 07-25-2006, 02:33 AM She's bootiful!
Pauldohert 07-25-2006, 02:40 AM I have just been on the website http://www.missamerica.org/ - I really hope these women can tap dance.
They are all so ugly. Sorry if its rude to say they are ugly - but they have entered a beauty contest!

Was it the teeth you objected to? :D
Pauldohert 07-25-2006, 03:37 AM They are scary - the teeth really don't help.

Pauldohert 07-25-2006, 07:06 AM Are they all dentures?
Pauldohert 07-25-2006, 07:23 AM Is there a smokers version of the toothpaste they use?
Is it available in the UK?
MrsGorilla 07-25-2006, 07:29 AM I'm thinking that they need to hire a new "photoshopper".

Ginger Rogers and Debbie Reynolds would like a word with you.
KenHigg 07-25-2006, 09:34 AM Ginger Rogers and Debbie Reynolds would like a word with you.
Sorry Ging... Sorry Deb....:o :o
Fun fact: Debbie Reynolds learned to dance on the set of Singing in the Rain. Not only did she learn to dance on the fly, but she mananged to blend right in with a pair of the greatest dancers, Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. :)
Great quote from Singing in the Rain:
"Short people have long faces.
And long people have short faces.
Big people have little humor,
and little people have no humor at all."

Pauldohert 07-28-2006, 08:23 AM You are assuming they look a million dollars - most of them are extremely plain looking - who must have spent a fortune to make themselves look a little freaky.

How does a girl with really white teeth help with the problem of identity theft?
agghhh!
The_Doc_Man 07-31-2006, 09:39 AM So watch the movie Miss Congeniality, where you will learn that it's not a beauty pageant, it's a scholarship contest.
:D
RickDB 07-31-2006, 06:15 PM They are all so ugly. Sorry if its rude to say they are ugly - but they have entered a beauty contest!
Not just rude, probably more delusional.... But whatever you gotta say to feel better about yourself. I'm sure you're pullin' all kinds of 'dimes' huh playboy?
Stick to explaining to people how to normalize data, and don't be so concerned with calling beautiful women ugly. People that concern themselves with such things are typically complete losers. Not that I know that about you, although I'd be tempted to wager if I had but the two quoted posts here to judge by...
I'm a fan:
Missouri
Nevada
Arkansas
Colorado
Georgia
Idaho
Michigan
Simply looks like case of bad pictures for these and probably many more:
Washington
New York
Maryland
Maine
Virgin Islands
They are scary - the teeth really don't help.
This is funny, considering the source, and the stereotype... I'll take a girl who's visited a cosmetic dentist over one with a boobytrap mouth anyday. But hey, to each his own!

don't be so concerned with calling beautiful women ugly.

Pauldohert 08-01-2006, 02:37 AM Wow what an attack for judging beauty contestents (exactly what they enter for). Chill out a bit. People that concern themselves with attacking others for having an opinion are typically complete losers (not that I know that about you - I wouldn't risk my money on a bet though , the odds won't be big enough to make it worthwhile) - anyway chill out big boy!
(Why have you listed the ones that don't look to good , but have a go at me for doing the same???)
If its a scholarship contest how come everyone has unnaturally white teeth - is that how the scholarship is awarded?
Anyone tell me how white teeth is involved in identity theft?
Is this more your speed:
Yeh Baby!

Pauldohert 12-19-2006, 07:21 AM It seems in US beauty pagents Miss America is again whiter than white -

Is Miss America open to women (sorry I may have phrased that incorrectly judging by the story above) outside the US?
statsman 12-20-2006, 06:01 PM It seems that Miss America tested positive for cocaine use, is bi (made a pass at Miss Teen America), and is very sexually active in both directions.
ColinEssex 12-21-2006, 12:52 AM would anybody miss America? there'd certainly be less war for a start.
Col
Pauldohert 12-21-2006, 02:25 AM Is this Miss America or Miss USA - Miss USA made a pass at Miss Teen America? - can't blame her for that!:)

Pauldohert 12-21-2006, 04:49 AM Didn't bother with any sound!
MrsGorilla 12-21-2006, 09:18 AM I didn't even pay too much attention to the whole thing. It's all pretty ridiculous I think. By the way, it is Miss USA and not Miss America, although I'm not sure what the differences are besides the Miss USA/Miss Universe ( ) being owned by The Donald.
I didn't even pay too much attention to the whole thing. It's all pretty ridiculous I think.
Seconded. A conversation I had yesterday:
Brad: "Man, Rosie and Donald Trump are really going at it."
Me: "Who cares?"
Brad: "But Trump said he's going to sue Rosie. It's crazy!"
Me: "Who cares?"
Brad: "But..."
Me: "Seriously, why do I care?"
By the way, it is Miss USA and not Miss America, although I'm not sure what the differences are besides the Miss USA/Miss Universe ( ) being owned by The Donald.
I just learned something. :p Miss America is the pagent that has the interviews, talent show, etc. It awards a scholarship and their little catch phrase is "We're not looking for a model, we're looking for a role model." Miss USA, on the other hand, is primarily a beauty contest with basically no other cirteria. So now I care even less. Miss America is expected to conduct herself like a role model; Miss USA is not. What is the big deal here? Didn't we already cover the "female celebrity behaving like a skank" topic well enough with Paris Hilton?
topic well enough with Paris Hilton?

The only thing I know about her is that she knocks about with Britney Spears and we have almost daily photo's of them drunk, legs apart, exposing their knickers (or lack of, in Ms Spears case:eek: ) whilst getting in and out of cars.
Is she a singer? or actress or something?

She is a wanna be in all the above categories. her family has money so she is a celebrity because of that. oh and the porn she made with her bfriend at the time.
the glowing racoon eyes scare me!!!
The_Doc_Man 12-22-2006, 08:39 AM I agree, she could eat an apple through a letter box
I originally heard this as "eating an apple through a chain-link fence" but the concept is the same. And EITHER ONE makes me shiver to think of it.
For a while, the televised national pageants were a big deal because in the 1950's, we were still big on "family entertainment" and the networks would assure that they carried it just to appease Mrs. Grundy, the neighborhood self-appointed Morals Examiner.
Ever since the nearly literal explosion of cable TV channels, we can find something more appealing to individual tastes and poor old Mrs. Grundy hasn't figured out how to thwart our desire for lewd, lascivious behavior. As a side effect, the popularity of such pageants is waning. Too much competition for the advertising dollar.
KalelGmoon pretty much covered it. Her family is super rich, so they got her and her also-super-rich best friend to star in a "reality" show where the two went around doing things that were completely foreign to them. Like... work. And think.
Apparently the show actually got decent ratings (for the love of God don't ask me to explain why, beacuse I can't) and from there she went on to other things, none of which were particularly successful. Or even noticed, really. I mean, when people go see the horror film you're starring in just so they can cheer when you are brutally murdered, that's not exactly the sign of an adoring public.

Not really. But when one is confronted in the newspaper with a picture of two young ladies exposing vast amounts of flesh, one does tend to glance at it. I think we've seen every part of Ms Spears and Ms Hiltons anatomy now.

New York was Dutch as of 1625. In 1628 Peter Minuit bought Manhattan from the Indians for 60 florins. In 1664, while the dutch wanted to protect the bont trade , the English took over New Amsterdam and changed it to New York. In 1673 the dutch conquered it again and changed the name to New Oranje. In 1674 New Oranje was carried over to the English permanently for one florin.
I never understood why we sold that little island for so less .
