Thank you so much everyone! How wonderful! All the kitty pictures are a hoot; the one on the right of Idjit's post looks like my little Czar :). And Cindy, that's the most scandalous looking beer I've ever seen (well, except for this one time... er, I'll skip that story unless someone really wants to hear it).

I had a very nice birthday. We didn't do anything special to celebrate, but we were on a cruise ship sailing down the Mexican riviera with four of our friends, so who needs to do something else?!

That's my Pixel. :D I'm glad you had a good time on your birthday - I took a cruise in the S. Carribean for one of mine, and it was very nice.

And duh, of course we want to hear the scandalous beer story. ;)

I totally forgot to tell this one. OK, here goes...

A couple years back I was waiting tables at a high-class restaurant called Olive Garden. One night I was working in the smoking section, where all the cool people eat. It was close to closing time and I had one table of four guys; the rest of the place was pretty empty. They had a couple beers each but never got rowdy or anything; but I got this weird vibe from them. I couldn't quite tell if they were being flirty or messing with me or just screwing around or what, but there was definitely some sort of tension going on there.

Well, the meal passed uneventfully and they paid and left. I started to clean the table, picking up a cloth napkin that seemed to be in a heap but was actually covering a beer bottle. A beer bottle with a condom over the neck.

I was quite confused. Was this a come-on? Was this prop-based gay bashing? Were they just trying to indicate their awareness of my gayness? I haven't the slightest clue, but it certainly was my most scandalous encounter with a beer bottle.

Aw, I hate when people are mean to service workers because the worker can't say/do anything. Jerks.

How much of a tip did they leave?
I mean... was it generous?
Or just standard?
Without that fact, I have absolutely no idea if they just meant to be funny or insulting or what. I'd be completely confused as well if I were you.

I was quite confused; I couldn't be sure they were being mean. If they were, they certainly weren't doing a very good job of it. The tip was pretty standard, if I recall.

Greg,

Where did your cruise ship depart from?

From San Diego.
