Is there a way to have text from one cell centred vertically over a selection of cells in a column?

The text of is at 90 degrees going from down to up the column.

Not sure what you mean so I have attached a file that at least is a start.

Select all the cells, then choose Format Cells, in resulting dialog box, select the Alignment tab, and in the Horizontal dropdown near top, choose "Center across selection". (BTW, this is far better than merging cells to accomplish the same thing).
