I think Luxembourg is the biggest thread. The average level of rain in Lux increased to 102 mm / month. Since highstreams ( at approx 5 km above earth) have tendency to move more to the northwest, the Netherlands is expected to be hit with an aritmic rain increase of approx. 57 mm all coming from Luxembourg !!!!. ;)

KenHigg
01-03-2007, 03:20 AM
Sorry , I must be missing something. There's a threat to world peace in Luxembourg because they are getting too much rain?

Interesting that Russia is not in the list.
Do you not think that as Russia plays the energy card other nations may feel forced to act?

No, it's because we get all that sh*t from them. Finally our government will declare war to Lux , the two camps will be backed up by say India, china to lux and Russia and Monaco on our side et voila. I'm pretty sure US/UK will dive into this , but can't predict what side they will be on, probably the wet side.

Can't the wonderful EU moderate?

I thought the word harmonization is more appropriate, but really , WW1 started with less :(

KenHigg
01-03-2007, 04:23 AM
Is the majority of pollution due to commercial or residential issues?

Ron_dK
01-03-2007, 04:28 AM
It's mainly due to increased sour rain, predominantly coming from the eastern europe countries. Pollution control is practically zero there.

KenHigg

and some in french , start at page 15 :

I am glad someone mentioned the French - Saying they are to be the next big world threat would be taking it a little far , but :-

they certainly won't put themselves out neutralising the next big world threat either. How does it go - if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem?

So thats my nomination - The French.

Ron_dK
01-03-2007, 05:20 AM
Is it at crisis levels, i.e. are people dying, are newborns at risk, etc or is it just now approaching that level?

Not sure and I don't want to generalize this, but the other day I was in Romania and there are certainly area's where people at young age have
been reported with cancer. Looks like the pollution over there does have an impact on people's healthy. Not to mention the Chernobyl area !

KenHigg
01-03-2007, 05:24 AM
So what do you think will happen? Will people fight or will the international community pitch in and try to address the issues before it gets to that point?

Ron_dK
01-03-2007, 05:37 AM
If drastical changes are not implemented things will get worse and will ultimately have an effect on our (western) society as well.
As of 01/01/2007 Romania is part of the European community and will have to
comply with rules for environmental control the same way we do over here.
Unfortunately, the russian scenario is even worse.
In relation to that, I figure that that's one of the reasons the Russians are now blocking the involvement of Shell in the Sachalin project. Shell intended to provide for more environmental control on this project, which was rejected by the Russians because they reckoned to have lower profits if added invetsments were to made in additional environ control measures. :(

KenHigg
01-03-2007, 05:55 AM
Seems a huge issue - You certainly appear to be well versed on the issues. I never knew problem even existed. Guess Colin is right when he say's some of us Americans aren't aware of much that happens outside of our borders. :(

I guess for my part I should vote for American political candidates that have environmental concerns a little higher up the priority list...:o

I have some interesting statistics here :

http://ocde.p4.siteinternet.com/publications/doifiles/012005061T022.xls

Seems that the Americanos are not doing that bad, Aussies and Canadians doing worse. Note that this list is from the OECD and does not include figures
from main Eastern countries like Russia, Ukraine, Kazachstan, etc.

KenHigg
01-03-2007, 06:34 AM
Seem figures from China, India, etc are missing as well... We're 3rd worse - I'd say we have our work cut out for us...

The Millenium ****in Dome - if it was supposed to be fun - they could have shared the money out and all 60m of us could have got pissed - that would have been fun.

Otherwise I would rather they had built something of substance, somewhere other than London.

A stupid idea from the Tories I think, but the stupid idea was made to look like genius by the actual end product delivered by Tony and his fellow New Labour cretins.

Couldn't find the appropriate wording, but I meant to say that we coped with
high water tide throughout the ages. We sort of managed the Elizabet fluddings in 1953( 1/3 of NL was fludded) and we gained land over the sea since 1859
( Haarlemmermeer polder). Just google for that and you'll see. ;)

If you move to Lux for that brilliant SAP job, you will pay 23.2% income

Additionally, you'll need to pay some 10.8% to health/pension/social

I've seen that a lot, just not sure why yall use the smallest measurement.
I don't see 120 cm but 1.2 m instead. So why use mm instead of cm?

FoFa has hit the nail on the head, metrication is at the root of all our problems. Napoleon strikes back.

Actually only 3 lineal measures are usually used
Kilometres for distances
Metres in sport
millimetres every where else

Kitchen units can be 1200 mm worktops 3200mm , except in my compact ergonomic kitchen :) , tho' her in doors calls it cramped no idea these women.

FoFa

What do they do then ?
You mean besides filter pollution?
Seems the wet lands offer a buffer against hurricanes lessening the impact inland. The storm surge is greatly reduced, and the wind speed can even be reduced, or so they are telling us now. Seems the damning of the Mississippi river (well levees and such) has forced the rivers sediment to flow out into the Gulf, instead of being redeposited in the estuaries. Thus causing the estuaries to loose ground (pun intended) to the Gulf.
Sounds the tree huggers have this one right for a change.

The other day I saw that documentary about climat changes and so. It predicted Paris ( France) to be sahara in approx 50 years and London completely covered with some 30 mtrs of water. The movie showed the last ( woman) beafeater standing at the top of the Tower. Hmmm dreadfull scenario I would say
Absolutely dreadful - the thought of a woman being a Beefeater is beyond belief.

Talking of threats. I see the USA has decided to bomb Somalia (Mogadishu)under the pretext of killing terrorists - no evidence of course that terrorists were killed by the USA, just the usual innocent civillians and children:rolleyes: But who cares, they're only poor Africans so don't really count in the USA's eyes.

Its terrible - women should know their place and stick to what they are physically designed for. . . . . . . . .cooking, cleaning and the like. They enjoy things like that - christ, they'll be wanting equal pay next:rolleyes:
