View Full Version : State of the Union KenHigg 01-24-2007, 03:46 AM Still a mess but I thought old 'W' did all right last night on this... Link (http://www.cnn.com/) Any thoughts...? ColinEssex 01-24-2007, 04:19 AM well, he's shown he's still in the pocket of big industries by not mentioning a cut in greenhouse gas emissions he wants to double the size of the USA's stock of oil (currently 727 million barrels) - that shows he's acting like a kid who buys all the sweets so no-one else can have them, then when it runs out, the good ol' USA will be sitting pretty, so sod the rest of the world. he wants to increase the army by 92,000. Almost confirming the USA's lust for blood, war, death and arrogance. reduce petrol consumption by 20%? - no way, the USA loves the car too much, thats like saying (to an American) don't go to church. 47 million Americans have difficulty getting health care. He offers a tax break? then spends billions on a war? 47 million Americans have been thrown crumbs to shut them up - no change there then - he obviously cares less for the homeland than he ever did. "Our country is pursuing a new strategy in Iraq, and I ask you to give it a chance to work," sending another 20,000 troops is the answer? I wish I had shares in body bag makers. That speech shows he is totally out of touch, he's an arrogant idealistic tit who is making millions from backhanders. He's the least popular Prez in the last 50 years (except Nixon) yet he still thinks he can ride roughshot over the world Col KenHigg 01-24-2007, 04:21 AM well, he's shown he's still in the pocket of big industries by not mentioning a cut in greenhouse gas emissions he wants to double the size of the USA's stock of oil (currently 727 million barrels) - that shows he's acting like a kid who buys all the sweets so no-one else can have them, then when it runs out, the good ol' USA will be sitting pretty, so sod the rest of the world. he wants to increase the army by 92,000. Don't hold back, say what you really think.:D :D ColinEssex 01-24-2007, 04:27 AM He's the flagship for what is hated about the USA - moneygrabbing, hypocritical, faked religion, arrogant, no conscience, warmongering, and like most Americans - loves to kill or send people to death. That speech did nothing for the USA on the world stage other than to confirm how self centred the USA is Col BarryMK 01-24-2007, 04:29 AM Slightly off-topic, sorry Ken. Given that most of us would probably accept that the American body politic, especially the Presidency, is in a bit of a sorry state it's a great comfort over this side of the pond to know that we're soon to lose Mr Bliar in favour of that paragon of virtue Mr Hoots Mon Broon. Inflation on the up, pensions robbed and the tax burden increased exponentially under his stirling stewardship. Is there a country I can emigrate to that isn't ruled by liars, cheats, buffoons, lawyers, Scots and corporate muggers? Disclaimer Let me just add that I have nothing against Scots per se, they are an admirable race, what would Captain Kirk have done without his very own? I just wish they wouldn't export their bloody politicians. KenHigg 01-24-2007, 04:39 AM Slightly off-topic, sorry Ken. Terrorism has existed globally long before we got hit by it. We only got hit so bad because we were completely ignorant to the threat. The fact is, that our "freedom" is not under threat. We don't have a huge Japanese naval fleet wiping out command posts nor do we have the equivalent of a Luftwaffe performing nightly bomb runs. There were no WMD's. As long as everyone keeps believing this fictitious world war that Georgey seems to think is happening then people won't see the fact that it was HE who de-stabilised Iraq in the first place. ColinEssex 01-24-2007, 05:58 AM What kind of derogatory name would you have for him if he was? if he's from Georgia, he could be a moderator:rolleyes: anyway, that wasn't an answer to my question, or are you opting for the usual US cop out by not answering it Col KenHigg 01-24-2007, 06:03 AM if he's from Georgia, he could be a moderator:rolleyes: anyway, that wasn't an answer to my question, or are you opting for the usual US cop out by not answering it Col And if he's a horses ass he could be from essex :p If I had to guess, I'd say he may be a black gentleman. What I got was the public needs to cut gas consumption by 20% Nice, what about business? Why nothing on say nuclear plants to get away from burning coal to generate electricity? Why is it always the PUBLIC? HealthCare, tax cuts are nice, but I didn't really hear any answers, of course I have never heard any real answers from either party. Iraq, on one hand there is a "Let me think about that" truth to his, secure Baghdad so the government can get on with business theory, but then on the other hand is listening to politicians and the Military. I am not sure either has good ideas in the current Iraq situation. Seems like about the only thing that happened is the power shift from Sunnis to Shites. How is this apology? This only dodges responsibility. He picked this war with the overwhelming support of the American people. We've been trying for a couple of years but Katrina washed it out as it takes in New Orleans, they tried to switch to a couple of nights in Natchez but although that pleased us, done New Orleans before, there were not enough takers. Brian I saw Georgia on the telly the other night, it seems to be one big swamp thats about the size of Wales. New Orleans is not built yet (I don't think) - no point in going there Col Brianwarnock 01-25-2007, 05:34 AM and I've got NHS burn-out. Time to stop and do something different. Col Yes my daughter, and most of her colleagues, are suffering from this. We are off for a long weekend with her shortly, weather permitting, nowhere special just a break from routine and to stop her working all weekend. Brian PS the sun is brilliant here today and not too cold about 4 Centigrade. ColinEssex 01-25-2007, 05:41 AM Yes my daughter, and most of her colleagues, are suffering from this. You sure you're not a lawyer, that was splitting hairs unnecessarily.?;) I can see that diplomacy may fail here. I withdraw from this peace initiative accordingly, bloody but unbowed.:) You're quite articulate yourself...:D :D Technically, I did not even call him a horses ass. ;) (Good chatter... ;) ) Brianwarnock 01-25-2007, 05:45 AM time for a brew now - try to get one of the girls to make one Thats sexiest :D good idea tho' I was the only guy in the office during my last years at the charity and we had an arrangement, I fixed their computers they made the brew. There was a fresh mug on my desk when I rolled in in the mornings. Brian Brianwarnock 01-25-2007, 05:54 AM Bejesus those girls are still at it Post 17 Col said if he's from Georgia, he could be a moderator Ken assumes , probably correctly that that's aimed at him so replies And if he's a horses ass he could be from essex Which col must assume is aimed back at him. Now call it a draw , kiss and make up and put your handbags away. Brian KenHigg 01-25-2007, 05:54 AM Ken got all pissy because I said "that black geezer" - can't really see whats wrong with that myself, but hey-ho, American "morals" must prevail I suppose - they do after all run the planet so we must bow to their superior knowledge:rolleyes: FYI - I get all pissy when you insensately submit the notions like 'us Americans want to 'run the planet' and have the world 'bow' to our alleged 'superior knowledge'' ;) ColinEssex 01-25-2007, 06:13 AM FYI - I get all pissy when you insensately submit the notions like 'us Americans want to 'run the planet' and have the world 'bow' to our alleged 'superior knowledge'' ;) er - actually, thats exactly what the Americans want to do.
