I have a secure db and I want to unsecure it. I have the .bak file, but when I change the extention back to .mdb and I try to open it, it still tells me I don't have the necessary permissions, etc.
I thought the .bak was the unsecured version of the secure .mdb.
I've looked at the threads searching for an answer, to no avail.
Can anyone please help?

No, a .bak file is really just a copy of the mdb file with the extension changed. You'll still need your workgroup file.

Thanks, Bob.
I thought the .bak file was the unsecured version.
I think the problem may be that the file was created from an .mdb that was already secured.
I've had all sorts of trouble with security - ever since I originally secured the db. Now I can't even create a brand new db without the workgroup file or entering a log-in. I don't know how I'd create new db's for others, or open anyone else's db on my system.
Very frustrating - but at least I've never (yet) locked myself out of my own db.
