I read this article on CNET about Siemens new 3g laptops. Why would you want 3g, isn't it SLOW compared to 802.11?

True but it's fine for surfing and low bandwidth apps but more importantly it has by far the better coverage.

I'm guessing 3g would have to be a monthly fee?

This deals more with bandwidth than CPU speeds.
