I use Godaddy, which is very reasonable in price for what you get.

I have been very happy with Lunarpages.
They support PHP/MySQL (unlimited databases) and lots of other stuff and have a forum which has been very helpful.

i use freehostia. its free and supports php/mysql. theres no forced adds and the support is decent. they were having some issues with servers going down but that seems to be better now

I am having the same problem locating a decent host - GoDaddy seemed to be good, until you read the user reviews. I am very skeptical of some reviews as they appear to me to be 'fake'.

Any real problems with customer service, speed or spam with GoDaddy???

I've had them for over a year and have no complaints.

I've heard good things about http://www.hostdepartment.com/. And they're pretty cheap and feature rich.
