Hi guys, thx for your time and hlp in advance.

Situation:
I am highlighting a word that i want to replace and then typing the new word.

Problem:
Instead of replacing the highlighted word starts typing the new word at the beggining of the old one.

ex:
before...
my computer hates me. (computer to be replaced)
after....
my carcomputer hates me.

I tryed with the insert/overwrite option but is not that.

thx, max.

Have you tried rebooting to reset things?

Just had to ask ;) it's surprising how infrequently some people think of that. Have you tried using a different keyboard on that computer?

This doesn't apply to highlighting a word but have you tried hitting the insert key, this does change the way letters are replaced or not when typing.

I believe they said they did (at the bottom of their initial post).

Erm oops sorry

This is very odd behavior and I can't think of, certainly any system setting, that would cause this.

I know you say all programs but does this include say IE or Firefox ? can you try it in Notepad as this has virtually no options.

You could do a system restore, if you have it enabled, or even better a Windows repair if you have a full XP disk.

Resolution:
Start-->Programs-->Microsoft Office-->Microsoft Tools--> Microsoft Office 2003 Save my stting wizzards.
I restored previous settings and fixed.

thx all of you 4 your time and suggestions.
max.
