when searching the FAQs you can specify 'Matching Options': match any words/all words/complete phrase. is this possible when searching the forums? i don't see it. i've tried using an ampersand and other things without any luck. it always uses an OR operator.

yeap thats where i saw it! totally forgot i was gonna look at it up!
Thanks Brian
that's great, tnx. i completely forgot about google searching.
there's another way that combines some of the above, using the google toolbar:
- come to the forums;
- enter your search term in the google search bar;
- click on the 'G' that's INSIDE the dropdown box (not the word 'Google' that's to the left of the dropdown box);
- click on 'Current Site';
- rinse and repeat.
i compared this with a search on google's advanced search page and got the same results. (using quotes narrowed the search only very slightly, iow you can use them but they didn't seem (very) necessary).
also, you can add the 'Current Site' button to the toolbar so you don't have to click inside the dropdown every time. go to the far right of the toolbar, find the change settings button (small downward-pointing arrow):
-> change settings/options/buttons tab/show google buttons on the toolbar.
