Hi, I am new to access and was if someone could assist me in designing a database exactly like the rentmaster software on this website(http://www.rentmaster.info/trial.html). I was told to design a database just like this one but, I am not all that familiar with ms access 2003. I've try searching google and microsoft's website for database templatesand I didn't see anything similiar to it. Any help with this is greatly appreciated and if I didn't go about posting this in the correctly, I am extremely sorry. Please don't hesistate to tell me and/or guide me to the right place.
Thanks, Val

This program is very expensive and unaffordable.....Seems to me that it would easier creating my own without the expensive cost.

Easier - NO
Cheaper - Maybe, but depending on the number of hours, maybe not

I wonder if you have any idea of the amount of work that goes into creating a professional application. I'm guessing that if you are a domain expert (know everything there is to know about the rental business) and pretty good with access, you can create a similar application in 2-3 months of full time work. Surely your time is worth more than the asking price.
I have plenty of time on my hand to devote to this particular request. Just wanting to get started......

If you are new to Access, or databases to begin with, I would suggest starting by looking at learning Normalization inside and out. Get that concept down and you will save yourself major headaches in this project.
A good place to start is here:

And then analyze things to get all of your entities identified and understand the relationships between them. The real major work is in the design of the data. The other stuff will fall into place.
