hi guys, i think this is a very simple question.
can i lock a word in a word document?

example:
i have a doc with a request # and a table

request # 1111
name surname description

can i lock the request #, so nobody can modify it?

A very simple question and the answer isn't quite so simple.

If you are not using Word 2003 or later (I assume 2007 will also have the same functionality) then the answer is no.

If you are using Word 2003 or later then you can use the protect document feature available from the tools menu.

Off the top of my head why not insert a form field for that word and then lock the form?
