Hi,
I'm new to Access, hoping to build a database for this large private estate garden. For starters I want to document the plant collection and the inventory of tools and machinery used by the gardeners here. I've made a few simple tables and would like now to design some forms and glue the whole thing together with a switchboard. First thing is I can't find the switchboard manager anywhere (Access 2000, Win98)I'll need to modify the switchboard as I develop the database. Any advice on getting this project started will be welcome.

Thanks

Rod

For the switchboard manager, go to Tools on the menu bar, down to Add-Ins, and Switchboard manager is under Add-ins. This is a good start, but I would recommend using a form with control buttons that you create on your own instead. You have a lot more flexibility.

Thanks for that. I'd better learn how to make my own switchboard. When I go to addins all I get in the add in manager is an empty box where I'm sure Switchboard manager should live. Looked on both Office 2000 Pro. CDs can't see it anywhere.

Your Switchboard Manager is located under Database Utilities in the main toolbar. It is a Wizard. If you do not have it, it has not been installed. Go back and re-install making sure that you have included everything.
Good luck.

Thanks Carol, looks like somebody didn't update the documentation between '97 and '2000. Found it now. Must admit I'm finding Access heavy going as a non-programer. Got it doing somethings I want but a long way to go.
