I dunno. Making walls out of cotton? Won't they just fall over in the rain and cause even more problems?:D

Noticed the A38 & A30 on the road with the dotted line in the middle in this web cam - What does that mean?

Quite simple. The road forks a little bit further on and you should switch to the appropriate lane to avoid problems at the junction.

I see - That's what I was kind of thinking. Can you tell by the road number if they are north and south or east and west or anything like that bey the 'A' or the numeric part? Our federal highways are even numbered for east/west and odd for north/south and Have a 'I' in front. So I75 is a federal 'Interstate' highway going north & south.

Hi Ken

We don't generally navigate using the compass points here. We tend to use Road number and next town name for that.

I could never quite figure how US drivers actually know which way is North or South. Does everyone have a car compass? Ok if the sun's shining but what about in the dark?

Nice one Dan.

It's pretty easy actually - If the people are becoming friendlier then you must be going south - :)

Actually it's posted on a jam cam the fork is at the bottom of a long steep hill, if tourists aren't blocking the road due to the sheer volume of traffic they breakdown on the hill because their cars aren't man enough to tow a bloody caravan up the hill:mad:;)

I would have thought that to really cover their rears, they would put a clock on the sign telling the time the next high tide is due.

Also a disclaimer, "Council is not responsible for tides"

Some of the more popular beaches do display the tide times, not just that they're given out every day on the local news channels and it's not to difficult for anyone with an ounze of common to figure out which way the tide is going. But in this Nanny state created by Bliar and his cronies common sense is no longer a consideration:mad:

Maybe they could rig a float that sits in the water tied to a string that pulls a cover over the sign when the tide wasn't an issue - :)

The string would create a trip hazard. You'd need a sign for that.

I was always taught it was high tide about 8 hours after the last one.
Or if you prefer, about 4 hours after low tide.
The flaw in this line of reasoning is that it requires people to be able to count and tell time.

The biggest flaw is they have to know when the last high tide was, that's if we also ignore your 8 hour rule.

Liverpool's high tides today and tomorrow are
1:38 14:00 2:18 14:40
not exactly easy to calculate, but around 12and half hourly with a shift

Not a 100% accurate but you can get an idea of the state of the tide by looking at the foreshore

The bunker is actually a left over from the cold war, it's now a monument. A bit like the bunkers we have left over from WW2.

Besides it sounds more interesting if its secret. And think of the publicity they get from threads like this:)

Yes, if you can get a news story done about it. Maybe kick in something about how crime has risen in the areas you play or some other such nonsense. It's all about sensationalism.

You know I never thought of that possibility. People normally pay me to stop playing and move on. (This is Stratford upon Avon after all) They don’t normally resort to violence but I’m worried now that things could get out of hand. Perhaps I should rethink my marketing strategy…..
