please guys help me am taking this course in excel and am about to fail it

my instructor gave us this bonus assignment to get more marks

if i didnt get this assignment right am gonna fail the course so please help

and of course my instructor always gives us these HARD assignments



ok the assignment is:


in this work book we 2 sheet

sheet 1: you'll find all the semester the student took and in each all the courses


sheet 2:you'll find all the students ID and all the courses and the grades for the courses

in sheet 1 when i write the student ID it should show me all the grades for the courses he took in each semester and also the extra ones

no this is a bonus assignment and it's not related to the course at all and about what i were doing......and this teacher is a hard ass like today he's giving us a exam for the chapter 1 & 2 in access and he didnt even taught anything!?!?!?

Anyway there are probably hundreds of examples of what you are asking already in these forums. I suggest you do a search for "vlookup".

What I don't understand is that as you have all the info except the grades on sheet1 why not just enter the grades there?

Actually George I'd use hyperlinks not vlookups as I'm sure he only wants to see the data not combine it.

that's the problem my instructor always give us these hard things....he want when i enter the student ID number all the grades should show and the courses which isnt in the list should appear in the extra table besides the semesters tables

i tryed with the VLOOKUP.....and IF.....but still i cant do it

i want a function that enter the extra courses in the right table which is isnt in the semester tables...i hope you got the idea cuz my english is not that good
