Does anyone know how to change COM 1 to a USB port instead of a Serial port? Can this even be done? Thanks in advance for your help.

You are correct but I would need an adapter to connect a USB cable to a Serial Port. I have only seen it the other way around. Thanks for the thought.

I could use some clarification. Do you have a 1) serial device to talk to and you only have USB ports or 2) do you have a USB device and you only have serial ports? What sort of device and what model of PC? There may be other options available.

ummm, I may be wrong, but isn't a COM port limited to 128Kb/s??? Whereas a USB 2.0 port can go up to 480Mb/s (491520 Kb/s)?

I know they make USB to COM adapters..... I don't ever recall seeing it the other way. (I mean, gender changers may work, but I think the speed differential is going to be the main difference.)
