Yes, both can use the same DB over a basic Windows network. This is a bad idea. Surely you could have just tried it instead of having to ask since you're in a hurry and all.

It will take you about 30 seconds to split the database. It's literally just a few button clicks. Why not do that before sharing (make backups first)?
