My Viewsonic monitor after four years of loyal service died, so I am looking at getting a new monitor. Viewsonic is introducing the VX2260wm (http://www.viewsonic.com/pdf/us_eng/products/VX2260wm_VSA_Oct_2008.pdf) which s a 22" monitor that is HD compatible (1920x1080). Evidently, it is not yet available for purchase.

The 22" Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SyncMaster-2253LW-21-6-inch-Monitor/dp/B0013PVRPS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1225118032&sr=1-4)is NOT HD compatible, it has a resolution of 1680 x 1050. However, the 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SyncMaster-2493HM-LCD-Monitor/dp/B0012TZJZ4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1225129298&sr=1-7)is HD compatible. Of course it is substantially more expensive.

From the standpoint of practicality, since I currently have very little HD content, the Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW would be the better choice, unless the Viewsonic monitor is superior. Any opinions on what to buy?

My ATI videocard has DVI out.
