And actually, my red box (god I wish I was a woman saying that!) is an indication that the truth is not very welcome in the world. Just testing the waters. Actually, my friend over in the AWF will be very disappointed to hear that I don't fit in around here. And for the rest of you that are the supposed experts, if only the stupid people knew that they could produce your knowledge for nothing, you would have nothing to do. Part of me really wishes that they would do the research themselves so they could put you out of work.

MarleyManner, your attitude is yours to have. Nobody can or will take it away from you. But be aware that the reputation feature about which you complained so loudly is a form of feedback that tells you when you are off the deep end socially speaking.

If you want to beat and buggers your wife and then take your dog out for a walk on her leash (or vice versa), it's your business. But in a very real sense, we who work to make this a nice place for people to learn something - out of the kindness of our hearts, and perhaps as we cast our bread upon the waters - don't take kindly to rats scaring away people looking for serious help.

You don't seem to understand why we do what we do here. I came here a long time ago having inherited a database that was a tangled web of impossible relationships, about as organized as a pile of dyspeptic dragon droppings, and about as manageable as a two-year old kid on a sugar overdose. I got the help I needed to tame that beast.

Later I remembered the advice of others on the forum at the time. If you get help, you should return the favor. Help others in return. It is called altruism or gratitude or human kindness. Take your pick. We do what we do because we find that it really IS better to give than to receive, even if it is only based on our limited knowledge of our subjects. Every little bit helps.

But you aren't helping. Within the Watercooler, we have been known to get snippy with each other. But when you deflate the egos of new members in the technical side of the forums by telling them how badly their database sucks, it would help if you demonstrated enough understanding to at least be credible in that statement. On the other hand, given your tirade against the joys of normalization in another thread, your credibility with the veteran members has become greatly strained. Putting it mildly.

as to reputation . its a way of show thanks and also a measure of the person helping out if they have more reps then they are more likely to be knowledgeable

I have found invaluable help on this forum whether it be on a some issue that i have overlooked or a solution to a more complicated problem 100% (Which i try to digest and understand how) for this prick to basically state that the forum is a ego trip shows a small minded person - Marleymanner - do us a favour -shut up and keep your small minded attitude to yourself , if you want to rant and rave piss off and do it somewhere else
