Typical Yankee propaganda, just look how powerful we are:rolleyes:
ColinEssex 03-29-2009, 01:06 PM Any country that has aircraft carriers could have pics like this - why is it special to the USA?
Most other countries just get on with things rather than try to show the world how self centred they are.

I'm sorry, but I for one am a great admirer of photography.
I didn't take it as a depiction of "look how powerful the US is."
I took it as "Here are some really great photos" And as Col says, any country could have pics like these. I wasn't particularly impressed with photo 2, but photos 1 and 3, I thought were great. Especially 1. And I'm not exactly an aircraft hound. I just thought the image was well done.
Since we are sharing photos, I'd love to show you one I took this weekend.
It was my husband's birthday and we decided to escape to a nearby resort. We have both been working so hard for the past several years and we really needed this break. Now, this photo could be construed as "Lazy American relaxes as world falls apart around her" but I would hope it is not. I was simply, at long last, having a rest.

Nobody said these pictures are special to the USA. The title of the thread is ...by the US military. They could have said ...by RAF (or anyone else), does not mean only the USA could have taken these pictures.
Also, these pictures are on Tom Phillips' personal website. How is this considered "showing the world how self centered they are"?
Mike375 03-29-2009, 09:00 PM It would appear the English people have a severe inferiority complex. I never thought when posting the links it would be a political statement.
Other people just like the pictures.
But the English position is understandable. Instead of sending the convicts to Australia you should have moved to Australia and left England in the hands of the convicts. That way you would be on a big piece of dirt.
I just did some searching on Google and I think the results expalin why the English are so uptight. England has a population of 60 million living in area that is smaller than a large cattle station in Australia and far smaller than our largest electorate, which is in Western Australia.
If I was one of 60 million people living on a postage stamp, then I would be uptight and especially with America. If the English had played their cards correctly they could have called Australia and America thier own bit of dirt. But instead the went for the postage stamp size dirt.
I would suggest to any Australians or Americans that are puzzled by the English attitude....go to Google and look at the size of England and imagine you are living on that little piece of dirt with 60 million other people. If so, you would be pissed of at the world etc.

Yeah and Oz is overun with sheep, kangeroos and cane toads:p

Yes and this site also quotes
"if you can read this in English thank the US military" I don't think so, they never came to my school
here's a cool pic

The snag with that is that Oz is so far from civilisation (or the real world) it takes at least 24hrs to get anywhere near people who speak proper English.
Anyway, isn't most of Oz burned to a crisp now?
The title of this thread does indicate that only the US military are capable of taking pics like this. It would have been better to title it differently without the emphasis on the US military.
I agree technically they are good pics, but not peculiar to the US.

Well, we have the Americans at Pine Gap...

I am f***ed if I know...but you must have some news reports?? Keep us informed.

What is in the topic that causes you to break out in hives....
Some great pictures taken by the US military
Everyone thinks they are great pictures.
What is the problem?
Maybe I should repost the links and change the topic to......A group of pictures that you wil not be interested in.

A group of pics that show the might of the US military machine

Is that sort of language necessary? You should say 'please' if you're asking me to do something for you, it is common courtesy.

I agree the pictures are reasonable. Also, they are vaguely interesting. Although I prefer Tess's photo.

The pictures are excellent and to the extent you had to look at them.
As to Tess, you have obviously seen pictures that I did not see. Is Tess playying favourites with English gentlemen?

We love her and she us:cool::p

Wow!!
So I have to use my imagination.

To quote Montgomery the US waited in the pavillion till half time
Pauldohert 03-30-2009, 02:54 AM Then the Japanese declaration forced them to bat?

Your getting confused with Australia speaking Japanese:D
But when you look at some of the postings in the Access part of this site you have to ask the question...Did the Americans fuck up?:D
Imagine if you will that Bernard Law Montgomery (he had a something about him), Patton and MacArthur were still here.......and read some of the postings.

Patton and MacArthur would want to drop nukes, Monty of course would take a balanced approach

And with the special accent.
Where is my birthday present, I turned 61 today.

oumahexi 03-30-2009, 04:29 AM Amazing photo's! You really have to have an eye for things like that!
Tess, honey, lovely legs, amazing shoes and, my, is that a French pedicure? I'm impressed! My only criticism is that you need to eat some more fat and starch to build up the celulite a little lol (only kidding, oh and jealous :D)

It could also be that you are the only one who is placing the emphasis on "the US military." I think most people are focusing more on "some great pictures" then who actually took them.
Maybe it's sort of like a school yard crush where you insult someone because deep down you actually like them. :D

hehehehe.

No it does not. If the author of this thread thought that, then why did he feel obliged to cite his source. That is the only reason the thread says US military, citing the source!!!! Find something more worthwhile to complain about Colin.
hehehehe.
If you liked that one, check out one of the other times he's used 'postage stamp' in a post about England/the UK. He's nothing if not predictable.

I sort of feel bad that my postings lead you around by the nose:D
If I was one of 60 million people living on a postage stamp,
That postage stamp ran the largest empire in the world, what does Oz run, other than cattle stations?:p
Mike375 03-30-2009, 12:48 PM That postage stamp ran the largest empire in the world, what does Oz run, other than cattle stations?:p
Sheep and wheat. Along with America we help feed the world:D
Vassago 03-30-2009, 02:08 PM That postage stamp ran the largest empire in the world, what does Oz run, other than cattle stations?:p
LOL, for how long did this "empire" exist in it's largest form? Even with it's slightly larger size, you've got nothing on the Mongol Empire. :D
And after World War II, when your country was bankrupt, who was it that bailed you out? I can't seem to recall... ;)
ColinEssex 03-30-2009, 02:15 PM Sheep and wheat. Along with America we help feed the world:D
So there are no starving people in Africa?
I suppose there's no point in sending it there, they have no money to pay for it. Plus, the USA arn't interested as there is no oil in the relevant areas. It's better for the USA to sell arms to fuel the civil wars going on there, at least they get something out of it.
Australia? Ah yes, - men are men (and so are the women) in fact, the only way to tell the difference is that the men spit farther than the women. I worked with a girl when I was there and she could spit about 20 feet - amazing.

How much did that cost us?

LMAO. Thanks. I'll tell him you said so! ahahahahahhahahha

Poor guy. I guess you don't do too well at Where's Waldo either, do you?

Thanks sweetheart. Yes, French pedi. Shoes are new too. :)
Rich, I liked the last two the best. Of course my fave is Lady Liberty as it is humorous to me.
I sort of feel bad that my postings lead you around by the nose:D
Don't. Some of the early ones were quite witty.
I understood Australia experienced bad droughts, I just didn't realise it extended to humour. :D
