Hellow,

Since there is - as far as i found it - no forum for questions about microsoft visual studio BI Report Designer within SQL report 2008, i thought this was the most applicable place to post my question :)

I have several reports which are deployed to a dashboard page (sharepoint).
I am not sure where and how to authorize users:

1. in the report designer (sql bi report designer - microsoft visual studio)
2. in the access database
3. at the sharepoint site

In the first and last case, i am not sure how to do it.
First things first of course....which is the best, or the most usefull....

Thanks in advance!

If it's the same as 2005 /2000 then the permissions are added through the reporting services admin page.

Should be able to access to via: http:\\servername\reports

(obviously changing servername with the name of your server)

the report manager is not available anymore when the sharepoint services are installed; therefor the authorisation has to be made at another level. I tried a couple of things out within sharepoint (target audience) but it didn't quite work...

Thanks for your answer though!
any other tips, please advise....

why is report manager no longer available? you need it.

Someone deleted the report manager site so they could have sharepoint on port 80?

the report manager site isn't available when sharepoint is installed. Because of sharepoint takes over the report manager (with the sharepoint report designer add-on there are special utilities available in configuration manager of the sharepoint for handling reports, authorisation, settings). it is kinda same, but more enhanced
