I was wondering if there is a way to modify the way text is entered directly into a field in a table.

Currently... if you are entering text in a memo field, and press ENTER, the focus gets shifted to the next field.

Is there a setting that i can change that would simply go to the next line in the memo field when I press ENTER?

Open the form in design view, select the text box and go to the OTHER tab in the properties dialog. Change the ENTER KEY BEHAVIOR from DEFAULT to NEW LINE IN FIELD.
