i am not too experienced with connecting this with access, but I think i've put everything correctly into the wizard here. this is what my control panel for the db looks like with godaddy.com:

From that information, I should have all of the correct stuff in the correct places in the access wizard. I am trying to get the linked table manager window up. Could the problem be that there are no tables yet in the mysql db? That doesn't make sense for it just not being able to connect. can anyone help me out? do you guys see any errors? thanks!

I am also using this tutorial to get me started, but I'm sure I haven't followed all the instructions to the 'T'....

and where does the DSN fit into this? I tried to connect to it without the DSN installed, but installed it anyway after that didn't work just as a "maybe this will work" step. I really have no idea what it does.

Have you tried using the ip address rather than hostname. I had the same error but not when using the ipaddress of the server
