I am losing faith in the UK's political system, this bill was passed with quite a large majority even though Labour MP's rebelled.

This bill which is supposed to target file sharers was basically writted by the music industry and has had little to no proper debate in the House of Commons. They have ignored public opinion with 20,000 people writting to their MP's last week ALONE and have continued to only listen to the poor people who work for the big music companies.

What are your opinions on this bill (i should really say Law now)?

The bill will be useless in tackling file sharing so who cares really.

we'll see...i saw the french people still use torrents so chances are it will be OK here.

It basically means law firms like ACS:LAW will be granted more access to persistent uploaders in attempts to get profit of downloaders...I see the clause to cut people off will go under further scrutiny but the other clauses to send letters to downloaders and allow 3rd parties details of the downloaders was still included in the bill....

This country is run by big business - and the political system is a joke.

I am glad Labours Manifesto includes a proposal to force an MP out of office during his/her term....

Sometimes I wonder why politicians are bastards, but then if you arent a bastard when you stat you so will be - obviously not all politicians are bastards, I am stereotyping, not offence meant if your a politician...

Glad they scrapped the broadband and cider tax though...

Well obviously the big companies, musicians, actors and the like are all together earning what only 100 milion dollars per day??
This used to be 500 million dollars per day, so obviously that industry must be losing money somewheres and losing money is of course bad...

Of course these musicians, actors and what not must earn BILLIONS a day to be able to survive....

OK lets skip sarcasm, Obviously piracy in any way shape or form is to be banned. But ... who is the bigger pirate?
There are laws against "exploiting monopolies" i.e. Microsoft is getting the brunt end of that with I.E. and stuff.

I do not see why someone / anyone i.e. Brad Pit should earn 50 million (random person and random amount, but ball park non-the-less) to spend 6 months to record one movie + 10% of all proceeds of the ticket sales???

I do not see any reason for Beyonce (or what ever she is called, and again random name) to earn millions per year. Yes sure they be famous, yes I suppose they work hard ...
But there is no need for this (equal to bankers) money hogging, getting too rich off other peoples hard work kindoff attitude.

Bank(er)s are "getting it" for exploiting the "public"
How about these guys?? Are they not exactly the same if not worse than bankers/insurance companies?
Their biggest "loyalties" are their fans, sure they just LOVE to RAKE in the money scammed of the marks/victims/fans

Just to add to your point...I do like the 50% tax on people who earn over £150k :P

I am can happily say I am not taxed near that (although still too much :P)

And let's face it, these record companies really are monopolies. Artists that sign with them rarely get much money at all from the sales of their albums. They make their money on touring, promoting, etc...

I'm thinking I'd be happy just to get my music out there for people to hear. If 50,000 people are sharing my album on a torrent site, I'd be ecstatic!
