But you can do so very easily. In Access, the "Short Date" and other named date formats depend on the Windows date format chosen under path Start >> Settings >> Regional Settings (or something like that.)

Are you running your entire system with the "wrong" date format? Don't forget, Bill Gates is a USA citizen, so OF COURSE his products are going to reflect his USA prejudices. Or were you referring to dates on this forum?

Using either long date format would be fine since it is unambiguous.

Using a Short US format is ambiguous. I didn't realise at first as I expected a UK site to use dd/mm/yyyy. At that particular time of the month it was not obvious. No clue is provided by the current date since recent dates are expressed as Today and Yesterday.

Yes, both Today and Yesterday are meaningless so why not just put the date and time?

Today and Yesterday work for me. They correspond to my time setting. I have seen them change at midnight more often than I probably should.:(

Not at all. The dates including Today and Yesterday display correctly based on the time zone in the User CP.

I really don't think it could be too hard to have the date format also set in User CP.

Point taken. I am always logged in. The date and time should display and indicate GMT only for visitors while logged in users get their preference honoured.

Would be nice if the page did get the date and time settings from the computer but then I expect the howl about running scripts would be deafening.

Yep, CP won’t cut it; we also have to consider the people in the Chatham Islands. ;)

All jocks(sic) aside, I would prefer GMT (no daylight saving) and let people create an offset.
Sometimes these sites shift around on server local daylight saving time and people have to chase them.

Right, this is a standard option in Vbulletin that covers the whole forum. What I am wondering is if there is a mod out there that allows a user to choose their own format that would override the default option for the forum.
