First of all, wicked site, despite what some of the more miserable member may say.... but I noticed today that there are quite a few first time posters spamming various threads. Do you think it would be too big a job to check what people's first posts are, and ban the IP if they're obviously touting other websites? I'm sure NONE of them are dodgy of course....

The Mods do a pretty damn good job of keeping most of the spammers out of here. I know Bob has a system that works extremely well, but im not exactly sure what that process is...

There is the ability for you to help too, if you feel something is (likely to be) spam, report the post by clicking on the danger triangle and reporting the post.

I've been lobbying Jon (the site owner) to implement something I've seen at other forums where you can't have URLS until you hit 30 posts and have been on the board for 30 days. So, that basically keeps most spammers out because they would not survive getting 30 posts without people noticing that they are lame attempts to build post count and they have a problem with being on the forum for 30 days. Most of the time, their stuff is in quick and out just as quick.

But, haven't heard from Jon on my request at all, unfortunately.
