I have a accdb-database in Access 2007 which consists of only one table with several columns and several thousand rows. Total size is approximately 1.7 MB.
I have used "Find-replace" and I replaced the strings in a single column with new strings. But now the size of my database as many as 27 Mb, although table looks like before.
Why did that happen? Can I fix it?

A database bloats when you do alot of inserts and updates, just go to the database tools and select Compact and Repair and you db should decrease in size

If you don't find what you are looking for, why not use Access help, press F1 and search for Compact

Under Access 2010 it's there so I assume that it was on the same place.

Hi Janr,
Where's the Help? What is F1?

I was just joking.
I have done according to your recommendations and now is OK.
Thanks again for your explanation.
