View Full Version : chart data source

OK, I feel stupid. I can figure out replication and visual basic, but charting some data is driving me crazy!

1) I create a report based on a query;
2) Insert a chart, using the wizard to choose fields, etc.;
3) In print preview I see sample data. Now the help says that this is normal, close the report and open it. Voila, real data. But if I close it a second time and reopen, back to the sample data.

This seems to happen whether I just use the wizard, build it myself, or use some combination of methods. I can build the query within the data source property, or just choose a query I've already written and saved as the source, switch back and forth between the two. I think I've tried all permutations to no avail. When I reopen, I get sample data. If I view the data sheet, I see the sample data.

What am I missing?

Hi Matt

Myself and my colleague had the same problem with sample data displaying on the chart periodically when viewing the chart in preview mode and in design mode. On clicking on the chart again it seem to show the right data.

Our problem seemed to lie with the way Access 2000 was installed on my colleague's PC, as she was having other problems as well.

However, sometimes the sample data still displays in preview mode. It may be a gliche with Access 2000. Our charts now seem to be functioning properly in preview mode.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
