I have Access installed on both my home computer and work computer. At home, when I open a report from a form and then click the design view button, it takes me into design view on the current object (report).

However, at work, design view opens the object selected in the database window regardless of the current object on the screen. I would like to have it open the current object in design mode like it does at home.

I assume there must be a property you can set to choose which object the design view button goes to.

Thanks.

Why not just Right Click?

I never got into the habit of right-clicking for menu options. I've always used the toolbar. However, right clicking on a previewed report does not give me design view as an option. I only see that option in form mode.

Are you using the same version of Access in both places? Have you applied the same service packs?

Both of them are Access 2K. I believe the system at work was installed from Office 97 and then updated to 2000. I didn't do it myself but I recall that we used to have a 97 disk and another disk for updating it to 2K. At home I installed it directly from an Office 2000 disk. I imagine that could be the difference there. I thought maybe there was a simple property setting that could change this.

Are they both the same version of Windows ? I've noticed XP has some strange behaviour with Access 97

I have XP at home where Access 2K is installed and Windows 2000 at work. I'm going to try reinstalling Access at work directly from the 2000 disk and see what happens.
