Couldn't lock file

Is anyone familiar with this error? :-

Title: CheckOK

'Run-time error '3050'. Couldn't lock file'

The message appears when opening the database, Access closes when the message is ok'd.

Simply gain write access to the directory of the database file.

you get this error when more users try to access the same database simultaneously, and any user who is with read only access to the folder.

Users can still be restricted by read only access from the database file permission even if the directory contains write access.

I know this answer is after many years but could be useful to someone else.
