Col Rich 12-07-2005, 01:20 AM The puds did rather well too Brian:) Brianwarnock 12-07-2005, 01:26 AM The puds did rather well too Brian:) They didn't play well but did what was nescessary. They are off to Japan next week for the world championship but I don't hold out much hope. Brian Mile-O 12-07-2005, 02:22 AM Interesting to see that you can get through to the next stage of the Champions League by winning only one of six games. :D Brianwarnock 12-07-2005, 02:27 AM I think that the old European Cup format should be revived, its interesting that in those days only a countries champions and the previous seasons winners could enter, they now call it the Champions league and non champions enter plus they paniced about the Champions of Europe entering:confused: Its all about money Brian Mile-O 12-07-2005, 02:49 AM I would like to see all events go unseeded so that whichever competition you actually meet truly is the luck of the draw. That way, for instance, you could get Brazil, England, Germany, and Italy in the same group while, elsewhere, Angola, Faroe Islands, Malta, and Saudi Arabia are fighting it out for promotion. Hayley Baxter 12-07-2005, 03:29 AM Well done Glasgow Rangers on becoming the first Scottish club to progress to the knockout stages of The Champions League, I guess Hayley will have a hangover today.:D Brian Thanks Brian, you are not far wrong there. I had a half day at work yesterday to get a proper pre-match build up. Luckily I did the sensible thing and took today as a holiday...I've not long crawled out of bed :D It was just an incredible night. The way our season has been going it really has cheered us all up. I feel certain that McLeish will be replaced now after the league form this season but I feel really sorry for the guy, he has done everything he can and the players just haven't done the business but If this was his last game in charge I wish him all the best and thank him for all the memories he has given us. Perhaps we'll get Liverpool in the next stage Bri ;) I think am correct in saying a first placed team will play a second placed team but not if they are from the same country! I leave you with some pics from the night :D :D :D Hay Brianwarnock 12-07-2005, 03:41 AM Perhaps we'll get Liverpool in the next stage Bri ;) I think am correct in saying a first placed team will play a second placed team but not if they are from the same country! Hay Hope not, I seem to remember that we don't have a particularly good record against Scottish teams but the continentals are a doddle:rolleyes: ;) Brian Hayley Baxter 12-08-2005, 02:47 AM Hope not, I seem to remember that we don't have a particularly good record against Scottish teams but the continentals are a doddle:rolleyes: ;) Brian Don't fancy our chances against anyone in the next stage Bri but we're just glad to be there anyway. Still in Europe after christmas, now that's more like it :) Hay emcf 12-13-2005, 11:09 AM Still in Europe after christmas, now that's more like it :) Hay or rather - Still in Europe after Christmas, now that's a first!!!:D :D :D Rich 12-13-2005, 01:57 PM now that's a first!!!:D :D :D and a last:p  emcf 12-13-2005, 02:17 PM and a last:p  yes...once agent mcleish has completed his mission!! Hayley Baxter 12-14-2005, 03:46 AM or rather - Still in Europe after Christmas, now that's a first!!!:D :D :D Aberdeen in Europe at all, in days gone by perhaps but never again in the forseeable future :p Hayley Baxter 12-14-2005, 03:52 AM and a last:p  Now Richey you are not exactly in a position to comment are you! Get the picture ;) :D Hay Rich 12-14-2005, 09:29 AM Now Richey you are not exactly in a position to comment are you! Get the picture ;) :D Hay temp. set back only, once we get the club back from the Yank, we'll be back up where we belong:cool: emcf 12-14-2005, 11:19 AM Aberdeen in Europe at all, in days gone by perhaps but never again in the forseeable future :p hmm...good point! :o the hibees robbed us of a place last season and on current form i can't see us getting in the top six this year, never mind a euro place. apparently the club are considering the inter-toto cup as a back door to the uefa cup/league thingy. there's talk of a pre-season tour to china as well....mot sure what that's all about:confused: and sir alex will get man u back to their rightful place (although we're still above arsenal!!). anyway, if he leaves we'll have him back in the blink of an eye:D emcf 12-14-2005, 11:22 AM I would like to see all events go unseeded so that whichever competition you actually meet truly is the luck of the draw. That way, for instance, you could get Brazil, England, Germany, and Italy in the same group while, elsewhere, Angola, Faroe Islands, Malta, and Saudi Arabia are fighting it out for promotion. i agree...that would be great to watch, unfortunately vested interests mean it'll never happen:mad: mind you, the scottish team would still manage to come third in a group containing angola, faroe islands and malta!!:( Hayley Baxter 12-14-2005, 03:10 PM temp. set back only, once we get the club back from the Yank, we'll be back up where we belong:cool: Good win for you tonight, that's good as Rooney scored twice and a clean sheet for Van Der Sar - excellent! some good points there to move me to top of the table in my fantasy footy league at work. They aren't going to be pleased :D Hay Hayley Baxter 12-14-2005, 03:23 PM hmm...good point! :o the hibees robbed us of a place last season and on current form i can't see us getting in the top six this year, never mind a euro place. apparently the club are considering the inter-toto cup as a back door to the uefa cup/league thingy. there's talk of a pre-season tour to china as well....mot sure what that's all about:confused: and sir alex will get man u back to their rightful place (although we're still above arsenal!!). anyway, if he leaves we'll have him back in the blink of an eye:D Too many Sir Alex fans in here! Are you Man U as well then? I know Sir Alex was a big hit at the Dons as well but just with your comment "We're still above Arsenal" So where's it all gone wrong for the Dons this term? Too much youth and not enough experience perhaps? Haven't seen too many of your games this season other than the matches against us and I did watch your cup game against Motherwell. Looks like Roy Keane is on his way to Celtic. Reckon he still has something to offer them? I don't think the majority of Man U fans were pleased about the keane situation, maybe Richey boy can enlighten us  Hay emcf 12-15-2005, 07:02 PM Too many Sir Alex fans in here! Are you Man U as well then? I don't think the majority of Man U fans were pleased about the keane situation, maybe Richey boy can enlighten us  Hay aye...guilty as charged your honour! i am duty bound to support any team sir alex is managing after what he did for us!! not too sure what is wrong with the 'deen this year, although scott severin is due back from injury soon - he is our bazza ferguson so with him in the team we should be able to beat the wee diddy teams like kilmarnock etc!! although reading the meesage boards on the bbc site it seems the good old aberdeen fans are booing our players after 20 mins of a game - not the best way to give the young lads confidence really. heard a story about alex mcleish recently..apparently he was caught speeding outside ibrox - he's that desperate for 3 points!!:D :D still, we got points off the gers and the bhoys this year...that will do me - as long as we finish above scumdee utd!! anyway, the ess-pee-ell looks pretty competitive this year as long as hearts and hibs can cope with keano! i'm a bit concerned about keane though - any english premier league hard man player that has come to scotland (eg lee richardson, dean windass to give two AFC examples!) has been given a hard time by the refs - keane will probaly get red carded within his first few games. and i'm not too sure keano's dodgy knee will hold up well against a bunch of cloggers on a muddy pitch in the middle of february!the spl is a different sort of football to the ingerlish permiership! Mile-O 12-16-2005, 01:36 AM reading the meesage boards on the bbc site Worst football forums there are; just a bunch of illiterate scumbags with sectarian views and other mental deficiencies. heard a story about alex mcleish recently..apparently he was caught speeding outside ibrox - he's that desperate for 3 points!!:D :D I heard God had spoken to Marvin Andrews, saying "Come forth, Marvin," to which the defender said, "Fourth? We'll be lucky to finish in the top six." Hayley Baxter 12-16-2005, 03:54 AM not too sure what is wrong with the 'deen this year, although scott severin is due back from injury soon - he is our bazza ferguson so with him in the team we should be able to beat the wee diddy teams like kilmarnock etc!! Scott Severin is a decent player, I think Hearts would have liked to have kept him in their squad but they didn't have Mr Romanov then so probably had no option but to let him go. I'm not too sure Kilmarnock can be called a wee diddy team this term, they have done very well and I don't think they have brought in too many players. heard a story about alex mcleish recently..apparently he was caught speeding outside ibrox - he's that desperate for 3 points!!:D Ahh that's an old one! Not usually ascociated with Rangers Managers though :p We got 3 points on Sunday, perhaps Marv was praying for us again :p still, we got points off the gers and the bhoys this year...that will do me - as long as we finish above scumdee utd!! anyway, the ess-pee-ell looks pretty competitive this year as long as hearts and hibs can cope with keano! That's very true. It's good to see the other teams in the SPL doing well this term. It does make it more interesting. I'm sure Gers will bounce back in the second phase of the league and we'll do a lot better than people expect. We've had important players out such as Buffel, Novo and Prso - all of our creative players really. Buffel has made a huge difference since he came back past few games and now Novo is back too. Hearts watch out tomorrow for the backlash :D I'm a bit concerned about keane though - any english premier league hard man player that has come to scotland (eg lee richardson, dean windass to give two AFC examples!) has been given a hard time by the refs - keane will probaly get red carded within his first few games. and i'm not too sure keano's dodgy knee will hold up well against a bunch of cloggers on a muddy pitch in the middle of february!the spl is a different sort of football to the ingerlish permiership! I'm a little surprised at Celtic signing him to be honest. I know he has been a good player in his time but isn't he 35 now? I mean you would think Celtic would be going for younger players, they will get about a year or so out of him but they obviously feel he has something to offer the team for the remainder of the season. Just wait till he crosses swords with our Fernando :p The Aberdeen fans fav Gers player ;) Hay Mile-O 12-16-2005, 04:04 AM I would think that, with the number 16 jersey, Roy Keane is considered a worldwide cash cow as regards the sales of tops given his ex-Man Utd status. Although Strachan maintains that Keane is a signing made by him - rather than an investment on behalf of the chairman - I have my doubts as to why someone would want to bring someone to the club who will, effectively, be looking to take his job. It's just about bringing in merchandising money and given fans what they want rather than running a business proper. Still, if they want to waste thousands per week on some old crock then let them do it. :) Brianwarnock 12-16-2005, 05:43 AM Afternoon Hay What do you think of drawing Villarreal? Must be considered a good draw, you could have drawn us:D I'm happy to get Benfica, and chuffed for Arsenal and Chelsea;) Brian |
