Morning!
Can anyone recommend a good online or cd-based course on SQL?

Thanks, Ken, for the idea, but I am looking for specific names of web-based or cd-based training that folks found to be great/very helpful.

http://www.w3schools.com/

They have some coding examples and basic tutorials for beginners. I have given this to many people at my place of employment to break them in. It even has a quiz you can take to test your beginners knowledge.

Do you mean SQL in general, russi, or are you referring to SQL Server?

Russi,

I can highly recommend a book - SAMS Teach Yourself SQL in 24 hours (2nd Edition). Most of the examples are oracle, but they also show examples from Sybase, SQL Server and dBase. Very good explanation, break-down, examples and exercises. You need to be a little wary as I recall some of the answers in the back being incorrect (typos or just plain wrong), but it was a good resource anyway... and I still use it as a refresher. All examples can be entered into your database to physically test using the set-up described in the back of the book.

I used to use my copy of that as a handy reference but, somewhere along the way, it has become lost. Or stolen.
