Hi guys

Has anyone tried using a .mde created with Access03 and try running a Access 07 runtime in win 8.

I have no problem with Access 07 Runtime running a .mde created in Access 03 in Win 7.

If it does not, what is the lowest version of Access that will do the job safely in Win 8.

How are all these complicated with 32bit Access in a 64bit Win 8.

This question is asked as i am thinking of buying a win8 64bit touch screen laptop. This a step into to the unknown unless tested hands-on. :banghead:

I have had absolutely no problem running Access 2003 on Win 8.

Closing note: had my handa on win8.64but, access 02, 03, 07 work.

the error message is telling you it cannot find the FoxPro ODBC, so you need to install it - note it will need to be a version that 2003 is able to recognise. I don't use FoxPro, but would suggest go to their website and find an odbc driver that is compatible with Win 2008 and Office 2003 - assuming it exists.

Highly suggest you check out:

MS Access 2003 is listed as "NOT COMPATIBLE" for Windows 8 - exactly for the reason you found.
Interesting write up about using Compatibility Mode. I personally have no idea.
Please share what you learn so others can benefit.
It might not hurt to post a link on the MS site above back to your question here.

Just a question: Did the computer have a different copy of Access installed beforehand?

Just had an interesting problem at the office here. IT installed Office 2013 and Outlook 2013 on a new computer. We develop on Office 2008. IT installed Office 2008 after the fact. One problem leads to another.
Friday, IT came back with a new computer where they installed Office 2008 first, then Office 2013. This was Windows 7 32-bit not Windows 8.

Rx & CJ thanks. Sorry late reply. RX the laptop giving the error message has office 2007 installed before. What you make out of this?
