Error message when attaching images
I am getting an error message when I attach an image to a new table.
Cannot open database ". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file my be corrupt. This is a new table I just created a couple of days ago. I am using Access 2007. There are 304 records I've created and approximately 275 of these records have an attachment from the same file and I have not had any issue until now. I did have another database that was doing this same thing. I thought it had something to do with copying excel files so I decided to start completely over. Please help anyone!!!! I am new to access, so.... Thanks, Andie |

Re: Error message when attaching images
How big is the database file? There is a 2 gig file size limit.
Have you compact the database lately?

Re: Error message when attaching images
What do you mean, from the same file? Are you attaching the same file over and over again? If so, I think you should probably not be attaching the file (which actually inserts this file into the table) but instead store a LINK to the file.

Re: Error message when attaching images
I shouldn't have said same file. Each attachment has a different file name.

Re: Error message when attaching images
I still would watch out for the file size like HTC mentioned. Also, it has been my experience that storing LINKS to the files is much better for the system than trying to store a lot of attachments. Access 2007 improved on the storing of documents but I still don't trust it too much when it comes to storing those in the actual database and I find pulling the stuff OUT of the attachment fields much more a pain than just using links.

Re: Error message when attaching images
Well, that would be over the 2Gb file size limit.

Re: Error message when attaching images
After looking at this, you are so right! I didn't realize the pictures were so big and making the file too large. I am compressing them down and hopefully this will work. Thank you all so much for the help!
