what is the linked tabel.

hi..

i am using one database as test database in access 97.. but in this database there are some linked tabels... could you please let me know what is the difference btw tabel and linked tabel.. when i try to open these table it gives me error ..path not valid..how can i open this tables..

A linked table is a table that exists outside of your .mdb file. The error message is telling you that the link to the file is broken. Perhaps you have moved the Access file and the path is no longer correct, or perhaps the other file has been deleted.

To answer your question, you have to find the database to which the db you are using and if you do, in Access with your db opened select Tools, Database utilities, Linked table manager. In the linked table manager, select Select All and the check the Always prompt for new location and the OK. You will be asked to locate the db that contains the tables to which you want to link. When you select the db select Open and the tables will be linked.
Note: If you copied the db from another computer, you will need to copy the linked table db to your computer. Also, in the linked table manager you will see the location of the linked table db.
