First, such a system is only as good as the rules that make people use it. You can put a system like that in place. You'll be aghast at just how hard your people will rebel against anything like this. (We were shocked at the volume of response - mostly negative.) After a long experiment with this kind of system, we abandoned it. Nobody would honor it.
Second, you CAN use Access or SQL to do this, but how many people are we talking about? If less than 50, put up an Excel spreadsheet on a shared drive. Have folks mark IN or OUT when they hit the desk or leave it. If you need records, import the spreadsheet once per hour or whatever and just extract the data you want from it. Also, consider a web search for software that does "employee tracking" as a commercial offering. Sometimes you can be surprised at how little such a software package costs when trying to do a make/buy decision.

Hi Guys
Thanks for response. I was more looking at ways to intergrate this with outlook calendar. I know there will be a lot of resiastance to this but with the ever increasing demand on Health and Safety in the work place it gives us a good excuse for fire regulations. |
