This problem is common to all macros I create that build Excel spreadsheets. When the Excel file opens, and columns are too narrow for their data, only the middle portion of long strings can be seen. If I expand the column partially, oddly even less of the string displays. So whenever I run one of these macros, I always feel compelled to do the following:

Select all
Format > Cells > Alignment > uncheck "Wrap Text"

I don't prefer AutoFit selection, nor to make my rows taller, because some strings are very long (e.g., journal article titles), but I would rather see the first (left-most) part of the string instead of the middle or last.

Is there some way to build that into my Access macro? Also, is it possible to set column widths?

We use Office 2003.

Thank you,
