Hi,

I need some help on this one...

How can I stop the the fields being selectable in a continuous form? When I open the attached form, the first field is always selected and spoils the effect of the form. I do not need to able to select the records.

See screen shot.

Dave

Goto Tools - Options - Keyboard and change Behavior Entering Field to something other than "Select entire field."

Hi missinglinq,

I have tried your suggestion ( there are three choices: entire, start and end) but it had no effect. David

Sorry, I believe that's one of the many Options that only takes effect after you close Access (Access itself, not just the database) then re-open it. I should have mentioned that.

BINGO!! Thanks MissIngLinq. David

Like I said, I'm sorry I forgot top tell you that! Some options take effect immediately, some the next time you open Access. I can never remember which is which!

Glad you got it working!

Hi MissIngLinq,

I thought I had fixed this but the problem is back! I have set the access options as you mentioned (it sets for all forms yes?)- Keyboard / Behaviour/Go to end of field. Any ideas?

David

The only way I know that the field will be selected, with the Behavior Entering Field set to Go to end of field is if you explicitly set it to select the field in the OnEnter or OnFocus events. The code for this would be something like

Code:
YourFieldName.SelStart = 0
YourFieldName.SelLength = Len(Me.YourFieldName)

It's strange that it worked for ten days and now doesn't. Have you changed anything else? You're sure someone else hasn't gone in and changed the option?

And yes, when the option is set, it's not only set for all forms in that particular database, but it's set that way for all databases run with that particular copy of Access!

I have been playing around, and the setting (go to end of field) does work for the main from (you can see it highlighted in my jpg above - first field in red box). When I change the setting to start, it acts on the first field in the red box. It does not remove the grey highlight in the subform. Perhaps I was seeing things before and it never did work. It is the grey in the subform I am trying to be rid of as it spoils the look of the two tone subform. Dave

Perhaps you can set your tab order to start on the next button????

Hi Bob,

I have set all the sub from fields to Tab Stop 'No'. Would setting the tab order on the main form just affect the main from and not the subfrom?
