Hi there,

I would like to open an Access 97 database in Access 2007 and make some basic changes to queries/reports (i.e. do nothing special that Access 2007 can do that Access 97 can't).

Having made these basic changes using Access 2007, will the database still be compatible with Access 97?

Also, is it possible to create queries/reports using Access 2007 and import them into an Access 97 database?

Many thanks

Dave

The Design features will be disabled, and you need to used an earlier version of Access.

To expand on what Simon said - No version of Access past 97 will allow you to update objects without converting the database. With AXP, Microsoft added support for earlier versions so AXP could update A2K databases and A2003 could update AXP and A2K and now A2007 will update objects in the three most recent older formats. I can't say that this will continue with each new version since it causes a lot of extra programming for the Access team.
