Love/hate affair with A2010 again. I have used this query parameter for years even in 2010db - Like [Enter Name] & "*" - all of a sudden it doesn’t work. I have Google forever, nothing works. Anybody have any ideas.

Do you get an error message?

There is no reason why it shouldn't work, unless something
else is wrong with the query.

Hey Catalina,
Thanks for answering. The difficulty was in whenever I did a “Like” it would enter the criteria into the forms “filter” and “order by” attributes. Once I cleared that before doing another search it worked fine. This is a db that I am making for a church for their prison ministry. I now have to try and make it idiot proof to print a report. I have put a command button in the reports Header but
I am not sure how to code it. Know any tutorials that might cover that. I haven’t googled it yet but just thought I’d ask while I posted back to you.

Are you trying to print a report that contains the records in the query you described?

Catalina

I will eventually make other printouts for them, and probable other fields. Sometimes they don’t know what they want to track until they start entering, then joy, they say where do I put such and such. I tell them you didn’t tell me that you had a bugaboo in your ministry. <G> I don’t do this for a living; it is just a hobby with me. I do simple db’s for churches missionaries, etc. for free. If I was printing the report I would of course just hit print, but for non-computer people I usually even hide the navigation panel. If you have the time I have sent a zip attachment, and I would appreciate your input. I have not put a command button on the frmMainPrison, but if you will open the rptalpha you will see that I put a command button in the header (it is not coded). I am not sure that is even the way to go. I am thinking that maybe going with a modal dialog would be better.

Hi Catalina,
This is what I settled on as a semi-finished db. I will let them try it and see what they want added. (They always do) The goal with me is to always make it as simple as possible and I decided that a modal dialog would only give them one more form to deal with. If for some reason they start adding fields and need many more forms then I will probably have to go to a modal dialog. If you are not too busy give it a run and see if you find any bugs. Anybody else that would like to look it over and give me there opinion would be appreciated also.
Dick S. Thanks!

Oh! ps. Anybody
When I hid the closed button at the bottom instead of going to the desk top it goes to the Access available templates form. Anyway to avoid that, and go back to their desk top?

TaDa!! I found it myself.
The question was: When I hid the closed button at the bottom instead of going to the desk top it goes to the Access available templates form. Anyway to avoid that, and go back to their desk top?

In case anybody else may have the same question here is the answer:
Instead of using “close Database” in the embedded macro, I used “QuitAccess”
