I posted the following in the Excel forum but I thought I would also post here as far more activity here.

It is easy to simply email and Excel file to the phone. But you can't do anything with it.

My idea is to feed Excel from Access and that .xls file would go to the phone. But to be of use I would need to be able to change values in the .xls file. I could then email that back and have it up date Access.

Excel files are editable via Google Sheets (l believe) I use an android phone, but I think iPhones have a similar ability.

I have only had this phone since January, have not done much with it. In fact I just got it see what all the smart phone stuff was about:)

But I got asked about it yesterday from a bloke who I made Access application and it feeds Excel cells and if he changes cell values they feed back to the Access field or fields when Excel is closed.

Hi Mike, I've been following this guy for a while he is very interesting trying to get away from the desktop and more into Google (online ) products.

I've been trying to get his Excel VBA code to work in MS Access but I haven't had much success although I haven't put much time into it. I think it's because I can't get the MS Access to recognize the Jason module.

Anyway regarding your question and if I understood it correctly I think this might be a good lead for you. Let me know if you get anything working I would be most interested!

Oh... and I stupidity switched to access 2013 64bit...

Mike,

There is an App for that. And it is FREE!

Microsoft offers Excel for free in the App Store.

I got to the first one but are having trouble refinding where it is.:D

I am still very clumsy with the iPhone. I bought it in January and just really to see what the smart phone stuff was about. However, I have hardly used it.

When you end up with Excel on the iPhone do you have the keyboard window available so as to make cell changes?

On your phone open the App Store and search for Microsoft Excel. That is what I did on my wife's iPad. Very simple stuff.

The iPhone/iPad is basically like a Windows desktop with your finger being the mouse pointer.

Not sure what that means.

When you tap in in places, like a cell, where you can enter data normally the onscreen keyboard automatically displays (assuming you do not have an external blue tooth keyboard, etc.).

To get started:

If you will search the internet for iPhone Getting started you will find videos and lots of stuff.

I got to Productivity OK and downloaded. but from memory there was iTunes and Numbers.

I will play around with it all later in the week.

At the moment I am fiddling a lot with 8.1 and W10 and going backwards and forwards:D

Actually I just completed a "reset", the one before a full reformat/reinstall. That removes all files and the windows.old file is reduced to about .7 mb as compared to about 15 gb after conversion. But only 3 files now in Programs and Features. They are the Elan Touchpad, Reaktek of Office 2016. I am playing with 3 Toshibas. After I did the reset that keeps W10 there is not even a Toshiba folder in program files. I am now about to do a full format and see what happens. I just made a flash drive startup.

However, everything works OK. My own Access db fully works and it is very complex and does a lot of feeding to Word Bookmarks and Excel cells as well as feed Bookmark values and cell values back to the Access fields when the Excel or Word are closed.

Who needs computer games :D
