I ran Access's compact and repair tool and got the size down. Here it is.

You can see the queries are both returning 1308 records, should be more like 3700.

The problem would have been corrupt files Crazied,

a simple import into a new database would have sorted that, or the compact and repair tool, well played.

Are you sure it should be returning more? - It seems to be doing its job correctly? you only actually have 4842 records , so that would mean 3700 would start with D somewhere?

Thats a good 75% of records starting with D somewhere.

Hmm it appears to be not using the rule after L2 (L3,L4.....)

Will have to look into that..
