Access World Forums VS. Utter Access

Over the past year there has been a steady decline in the hit count. Total Visits From July 2019 586.30K to (Now) July 2020 155.83K --- At first I wondered if this decline was just for AWF, however I started recording Utter Access by way of comparison. It appears that programmers are moving away from Microsoft Access. Where are they going?

Uncle, I think it is less about Access programmers moving away and more about Google updating its algo so that our forum is ranked lower down in the the listings. My guestimate is that there is a gradual decline in Access usage, but that slope is far more gentle than the overnight loss of 35% of traffic on May 5th, after the Google update.

Have you looked at accessforums?

But to answer your question, so much stuff now is based around mobile apps and online?

google search algorithms seem to be much tighter based on search terms and prioritise paid advertising - so unless you know the correct terminology and even search grammar it can be difficult to find an answer.

As an example of this I've been looking at steel beams - finding out their dimensions and other metrics. I visited a particular website and now when I search, the first 20 or so links provided are back to this same website, I need to go right down to the bottom to find an alternative.

Doing a quick count using the "activity" menu option on "accessforums" I count 52 posts yesterday, mostly about MS Access I don't know how that compares to AWF?

Well I did a quick count on AWF as well. Filtering only MS Access related questions. I reckon there were about 30 -32? although I lost my count towards the end!

To get an idea about how much traffic a website gets, I use Alexa. Their rank is about 1,083,000, while ours here is whoa, 131,000. That sucks! About a couple of months ago, it was around 67,000 I believe. That means it would have been the 67,000th most popular website. So, we have dropped substantially. At its height, we were about 22,000 I think. Then again, there were less websites back in those days.
