Captured Brits in Iran

Hmmm..nicely put Brian and thanks for the info...;)

"LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's British Prime Minister Tony Blair warned Tehran on Tuesday of a "different phase" if it did not free 15 British military personnel captured in the Gulf four days ago."

So maybe this is guns blazing asks questions last....or maybe its a tea party...this will escalate if they dont get freed...

Hell the Iranians held Americans for like 270 days back in the 1970's or it was 270 americans...not sure without looking it up...some things just dont change...

But you know who will have your back if you do go in...

Hmmm...I would take this as release them soon or what...oh boy this could escalate...

"ABOARD THE USS JOHN C. STENNIS - American warplanes screamed off two aircraft carriers Tuesday as the U.S. Navy staged its largest show of force in the Persian Gulf since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, launching a mammoth exercise meant as a message to the Iranians.

The maneuvers with 15 warships and more than 100 aircraft were sure to heighten tensions with Iran, which has frequently condemned the U.S. military presence off its coast and is in a faceoff with the West over its nuclear program and its capture of a British naval team."

or maybe another one of it's members called the UK?

Where do you learn all this stuff for such sophisticated arguments. I tip my hat to you!

I wonder what the American approach would have been, plus weren't there civilians about, or does that not worry the Americans.

a bloodbath of course, . .. . . . .do yanks care for civillians? certainly not in New Orleans, so why worry about anyone else? they seem to kill loads in Iraq

Just remember, though, that you can't "generalize" us all as being that way, because creating that stereotype of the "people of the USA all think they own the place" is just as bad as us saying that all middle easterners are terrorists.

I didn't say "people" - I said the USA (on the world stage) thinks it owns the place. Don't get picky like Kraj used to for christs sake:rolleyes:

and being as most USA citizens have no idea where the "middle east" is anyway, anyone in the USA's eyes with a tan and a shemagh is a possible terrorist.

A military fox analyst last nite said he wishes for diplomatic resolution but would have liked to have seen the Brits not go so easily...more or less keep them back with some gunfire.

Just shows how rubbish your Fox news is - well it is owned by Rupert Mudoch (an Australian) so no wonder.
The British were in a rubber boarding boat, armed with pistols and rifles, no match for an Iranian gunboat armed with rocket propelled grenades. Plus the British were in Iraqi waters and the satnav proves it.

I suppose the Yank response would have been to open fire and get everyone killed on the little boat. Another 15 bodies to be flown home under the stars and stripes flag to add to the ones killed daily in Iraq.

Don't you ever see on TV the dozens of bodies being flown back to the USA? Fortunately, the British cares about its military forces, unlike the USA
