What is a "ho"? I've never heard it before.

I never heard of 'brill' before but figured that one out

They smell money and are playing the poor black pitifull me card -

IMHO... :)

and while we're about it, what does this mean -

"I think this gives a sound warning because it hits him in the pocketbook"

pocketbook??? ??a diary of some kind??

Col

Yes I saw this on the news last night - what does ""nappy-headed" mean - or rather what is its derivation?

Don't expect a civil answer Paul.

Who is Jesse? there's no reference to anyone by that name in the text:confused:

Col

ho == shortening of *****, also slut, skank, prostitute, tramp, hooker, etc

nappy-headed == while 'nappy' is technically a diaper, the term nappy-headed is usually a descriptive for a less than coiffed hairdo.

Personally, I find the Reverends Sharpton and Jackson to be little more than a couple of pathetic, dissention causing, self-indulgent, bigoted, racists. The only time they open their mouths is to trot out more racial crap. They're worse than the people they attack if you ask me.

When did we, as people, become so thin skinned that we spend the majority of our time whining about how everyone else has offended our delicate sensibilities? Seems like everybody has something that they're insulted over anymore...and they won't stop whining long enough to do, see, or hear anything else:(

Is that your answer to a civil question?

Perhaps a more friendly American can enlighten me.

Col

Slang: A prostitute

If you can't put 2 and 2 togather on that one then I doubt much of the rest of the story will make sense ;)

i.e:

nap·py 1 (nāp'ē) Pronunciation Key
adj. nap·pi·er, nap·pi·est

Having a nap; fuzzy.
Kinky; frizzy.

poc·ket·book –noun
1. a woman's purse or handbag.
2. a person's financial resources or means: The price was out of reach of his pocketbook.
3. Also, pocket book. a book, usually paperback, that is small enough to carry in one's coat pocket.
4. British. a. a notebook for carrying in one's pocket.
b. a wallet or billfold.

Yea I guess he was saying it in a comedy sense as well, but yea looks like they are playing the black card again...it will be interesting if they want money for damages...

I just think that when saying things like that in a comedic way and not to be intentionally harmful is just a complete over reaction by Rev Sharpton and his cohorts.

No get this Imus says this yet EVER RAPPER DEGRADES WOMEN everyday in their albums and lyrics, hmmm who is doing the worse damage for the black culture?

Go home Rev Sharpton and get your priorites in order...

Now what the hell is Brill?

My thoughts exactly Bodi, and I was gonna put in definitions but you beat me to it. All these people want is some money maybe a little more time in the media. Suppose he had called white people crackers or something, there would be none of this outrage. Come on you have to expect this especially from Imus since Howard Stern wanted to be him so badly.

Edit: Brill - I believe it to be a shortened form of Brilliant. but not sure in this context, did not read the link have been listening to it a bit on tv though

Thanks Bod for your explanation - shame the original poster has to be difficult about things and adopt the American way and not answer the question.

That last statement of yours is so true, racism is rife particularly in the Southern USA, everyone knows it, it'll always be there - the whites hate the blacks and think they should be lesser people. And from the documentaries I've seen, the more "christian" you are, the worse you become. Thats why New Orleans is still in ruins - the whites with the money don't give a toss about the blacks down there.

Its difficult to even make a normal comment on these forums without someone in the USA whining on about how they're being picked on all the time.

being as its written in a foreign language, its no wonder we have a problem. Actually I quite like the word "ho", its a sort of friendlier way of saying hooker.

So is this team all black then?

Even when you try to compliment someone you end up insulting them...:rolleyes

You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

You haven't made a normal comment in a long time. Every time you show up you stir up trouble and resentment...

sounds a bit boring:cool: not sure of the "you's" bit either, shouldn't it be "you're a ho"? - not a good example of English grammar for younger kids surely

so what about Santa when he says "Ho Ho Ho"!! is that banned in the USA?

Col
